The Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga has promised the Kenyan youth not less than four slots in his cabinet once he becomes president.

Raila was speaking on Tuesday during a consolidative meeting with a group of youth from the Mount Kenya region at the University of Nairobi.

While responding to the youth's concerns to be included in the government, Raila said there will be more than four cabinet positions for the youth in his government.

“On the issue of cabinet positions for the youth, I can say it will be more than four,” he said.

Raila has also promised to form a National Youth Commission that will ensure his government implements every promise made in the policy document.

He added that under his leadership, 30% of the government tender will be given to entities owned by the Kenyan youth.

"I strongly believe that we need to put into use the youth energy that we have in this country. My government will ensure that 30 per cent of the government tenders go to companies owned by youth," said Odinga.

He added that his government will organise quarterly roundtable meetings that will include the youth and the business community so that he can get direct feedback on the challenges the youth are facing.

Regarding the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Odinga says he will have the Kenyan youths be the ones attending to matters of foreign affairs because the majority of the people we have outside the country are youth.

Matters of the two-third gender rule, Odinga said it is now time we need to change the attitude of the people that look down upon people with disabilities and make the environment friendly.

Odinga said that in most countries that have already implemented the law, it has brought many contributions in terms of the economy.

“I have always believed in the two-thirds gender rule… You need to go and look at how Norwegian women are making contributions to the development of their country. Why can’t we do it here?" Raila Odinga.

Summing up his points, Baba, as he is commonly referred to by his supporters, said the government needs to come measures on how to bring back Kenyans who were dislocated from their homes during the 2007/2008 wrangles.
