The Ghana music awards in the UK declared popular Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz the best African artist of the year on Saturday.

The star received the award in absentia as he is currently in the US in his three-week tour, which has seen him making big moves after showcasing powerful performances in states such as Atlanta.

This is a colossal achievement for him, proving that he is doing his best for his career. He lost the BET awards to Nigerian star Burna Boy but has still kept his spirits high.

The Waaah hit maker was battling other African heavyweights artists such as South Africa’s Master KG, Nigeria’s Davido, Patorankin, Wizkid, Mercy Chinwo, Mercy Osinachi and Burna Boy.

The event took place on Saturday, October 9 at Royal Regency, London.
