Senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has confirmed that in deed there was an attempt by unknown persons to demolish Weston Hotel located along Lang’ata Road in Nairobi County.

In a tweet on Friday, he pointed an accusing finger at the government for the Wednesday evening bid to bring down the hotel linked to Deputy President William Ruto.

“As counsel on RECORD for Weston Hotel I can OFFICIALLY CONFIRM that the GOVERNMENT of the REPUBLIC of KENYA 48 hours ago sent tractors and goons to demolish the Hotel,” Ahmednasir posted.

He however, indicated that the exercise targeting the Weston Hotel, which has been the subject of judicial and political controversy, was called off for unknown reasons.

He added, “The operation was called off after the tractors reached the hotel and the powers that be changed its mind.”

His position contradicts a statement issued by the hotel management on Thursday denying reports doing the rounds from Wednesday evening that the hotel was set to be demolished.

In a statement shared on their social media pages, Weston Hotel insisted that it was running smoothly without any interruptions.
