President Uhuru Kenyatta nominates Col (Rtd) Alfred Mshimba & Dr Monica Wanjiru to replace EACC commissioners who resigned.

They replace Dabar Abdi Maalim and Rose Mghoi Macharia who resigned in September, about a year before the end of their term.

President Uhuru has nominated Alfred Mutweta Mshimba and Monica Wanjiru Muiru to replace two commissioners who resigned from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) in September.

The speaker of the National Assembly, Justin Muturi said the president submitted their names to parliament on Tuesday.

The parliament has twenty-one days to vet the two before their official appointment, which is expected to come before next November.

The two were picked by the Public Service commission after interviews were conducted in September before their names were forwarded to the president.

The two nominees will appear before the National Assembly Committee on Justice and Legal affairs in the following days to be vetted.

Uhuru encouraged the legislators to expedite the process as he seeks to fill up the positions that were vacated.

The vacancies are said to be staining EACC’s efforts to perform its mandate.

At the moment, EACC only has two commissioners; Mwaniki Gachoka and Sophia Lepuchirit and its chairperson Eliud Wabukala.
