A man is currently nursing serious injuries at Nakuru Level 5 hospital after leaping from the fourth floor of an apartment while on a suicide mission.

The incident happened on Wednesday morning when the suspect was trying to flee the scene where he had fatally stabbed his 20-year-old wife Mary Njeri Kamande in their apartment at Afraha in Nakuru Town East.

According to Nakuru Town East Sub-County Police Commander Elena Kaburu, the suspect named Paul Ochieng and his wife had been engaged in some domestic misunderstanding, a situation that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.

Ochieng allegedly drew a kitchen knife and stabbed Njeri on the right side of her chest, killing her instantly.

Once he committed the heinous crime, the suspect tried to take his own life by jumping off their balcony, which is on the fourth floor of the apartment.

His suicide mission failed miserably, as it is apparent that the angel of death was not home when the suspect called.

Ochieng’ survived the fall albeit with broken limbs. Police recovered a kitchen knife they believe was the murder weapon.

Details emerging from the couples’ neighbours say the couple had newly moved into the apartment barely a fortnight before the unfortunate incident.

The couple had twins aged five who are currently in the custody of a neighbour as police are looking for their mother’s relatives.

Njeri’s body was moved to Nakuru Municipal Mortuary awaiting post mortem as Ochieng’ recovers awaiting arraignment in court to answer to charges that will be preferred after police are done with the investigations.
