14 patients have succumbed to Coronavirus between Saturday and Sunday, increasing the cumulative fatalities from the deadly virus to 1,380 in Kenya. 

This is based on latest figures released by the Ministry of Health on Sunday, showing that 968 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

The new virus infections were confirmed from 6,610 samples tested in the last 24 hours, taking to 77,372 the total positive cases of the virus in the country.

In the new cases, 888 are Kenyans and 80 foreigners; 584 are male and 384 female with the youngest being a two-month-old infant and the oldest aged 91.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said 155 patients recovered; 110 from Home-Based Care and 45 discharged from various hospitals, raising total recoveries to 51,507.

“63 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 36 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 26 on supplemental oxygen,” Kagwe said in a statement.

He added, “Another 76 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 74 are in the general wards and 2 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).”
