The Media Council of Kenya has launched the COVID-19 information portal on Monday morning at the Sarova Stanley Hotel in Nairobi.


The portal will aid the media in disseminating factual and verifiable information to the public and curb the rise of misinformation.

Mucheru noted the portal stands to enhance vaccine awareness and uptake by the public in Kenya.

He also acknowledged that the media has helped to highlight gaps in the state of public health preparedness.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, the chief guest at the event, announced that the nationwide curfew to contain the spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic has been further extended by one month when he rose to give his remarks.


The Regional Director, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) East Prof. Hubert Gijzen who was also present during the launch, said the hub is a concrete step forward towards joint efforts to promote access to information as a public good.
