A man is nursing serious self-inflicted wounds at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital after he tried to escape from the long limbs of the law.

Two law enforcement officers namely Rose Mwanzia and Geoffrey Koros had stormed into the suspect's house intending to apprehend him for obtaining money by false pretences.

The suspect identified as Didmus Mong'are emerged from his bedroom naked in a ploy to hoodwink the officers into allowing him some room to dress up.

He dressed in a pair of jeans trousers and a checked shirt before dashing in the direction of his kitchen.

Mong'are took a supposed 'leap of freedom' from his kitchen balcony at Amani Apartments in Embakasi and landed on the ground with a whimper.

On seeing his attempt to escape from justice, officer Mwanzia was determined to pursue the suspect by jumping out of the same balcony.

However, a glance down the building assured the officer that there was no need to jump but to follow the correct way and take the stairs instead, as the suspect had only gone as far as the point he had landed.

She found the suspect writhing in excruciating pain because of the impact that caused him several injuries, including broken limbs.

Lack had it that the police officers he was running away from became the first responders to his emergency and performed first aid on him before rushing him to the hospital for treatment.

At the moment, the police are building up his case as he is recovering from his injuries after which he will be taken to court to face charges of obtaining money by false presences.
