The 17 legislators drawn from a section of Abagusii region, spoke during the end of a two-day retreat and vowed to form a party that will champion the interest of the region.

Led by Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka, the leaders said it is the right time for the region to realign themselves so as to have a superior bargaining power with the top presidential contenders in a bid to be part of the next year's government.  

Leaders from Mt Kenya, Western and the Coastal region are pushing to have their own national parties and we the people from the KIsii Region will not remain behind. We will now have a vehicle that will help us negotiate with those who want to lead this country," said Onyonka.

Onyonka who currently cites as a FORD Kenya Party member said the new political party will be ready and willing to work with leaders who will have their interests at heart.

"We will seat and listen to leaders who will guarantee our regions economic growth," said Onyonka

Onyonka reinstated that the region will not sit back and see the ongoing political realignment in the country but shareholders.

The leaders have also announced another meeting with the local leaders and professionals with the agenda of expanding their support base.

The Borabu Constituency Member of Parliament Ben Momanyi said professionals and stakeholders from the region will meet to to discuss their way forward as the country is heaed for the 2022 general elections.

"We will have to meet our professionals and the stakeholders from the region so that as the people of Kisii community we get to the 2022 elections as a team," Momanyi said.

They have also urged the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi to chair the talks and help them identify and spearhead the region's political and economic interests.
