Officers from Director of Criminal Investigation DCI have arrested 10 people and killed one after they tried to set free their lorry that had earlier been impounded by detectives carrying 400 bags of illegal sugar over the weekend. 

The lorry is said to have come under attack from the suspects when being escorted to Kisumu by DCI detectives and CIPU officers attached to KRA.

The report from DCI said that the gang men tried to block the road with vehicles whose number plates were concealed by the government 

“Over 20 vehicles and an unknown number of motorcycles whose number plates were concealed were used to barricade the road at Makunga shopping Centre, with the gang attempting to seize the consignment and free the suspects,” report from the DCI .

The arrested gang men are Evans Ariko,22,Geoffrey Ikasalion 28,Dan Oure,23,Thomas Ekisa ,24,Isaach Etyang ,21,Sammy Oloo ,22,David Otieno, 27, Simon Ogema, 24, Kelvin Kasala, 21 and Winnie Muriuki, 22,.

Three vehicles and motorcycle used by the suspects were recovered and currently at Kakamega police station.
