Two Kenyan leading media outlets have been forced to apologise publicly to Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata for sharing a manipulated video linking him to Sabina Joy brothel.

Citizen TV and The Star apologised to Kang'ata on Thursday for sharing the video purported to be from a Senate Session in which the lawmaker was alleged to have logged into Senate sessions from a popular city joint.

The senator took to his Twitter account to warn Kameme FM and K24, both owned by Mediamax Limited, that he would sue them if they fail to follow suit and apologise.

"Citizen digital, Kameme fm and K24 should follow suit otherwise we meet in court for a suit seeking hefty damages await," he wrote.

Citizen TV and The Star Kenya set the record straight, and both shared the original video clip, which was reportedly manipulated to mudsling the legislator, which the media houses fell for and ran with on Wednesday.
