Two men were arrested in Lamu for gang-raping a middle-aged intellectually disabled woman on Monday evening between 8:00 pm and  9:00 pm.

The two men named Shadrack Murimi Maina 45 and his accomplice Hiribae Kokane 43 were caught in the act by the village elder Samuel Ngumi.

The three were initially on patrol around the high delinquency Sina Mbio area when they came across the woman preparing some tea on Monday evening. 

Ngumi instructed the two felons to watch over the woman as he went to seek help.

On his return, Ngumi met the shock of his life when he came back and happened on Murimi performing the heinous act on the poor soul. His accomplice had already taken his turn and left the scene.

The village elder, together with the residents of Sina Mbio rescued the distressed woman and alerted the authorities who swung into action and almost immediately apprehended the perverts.

The police officers took the terrified woman to Hindi Magogoni Dispensary for medical examination.

Murimi and Kokane were also subjected to a medical examination where samples were collected from them for further investigations.

Murimi and Kokane are still in police custody as the police build up their case before they are taken to court to face rape charges.
