Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has been ranked as the best performing senator in Kenya in an opinion poll done by research company Infotrak.

Kilonzo Jnr emerged top in the Senate after scoring 66.4 per cent in the poll conducted earlier in November.

According to Infotrak, the survey ranked the senators according to their performance both in the House and in their respective counties.

Elgeyo-Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen emerged second in the poll with a 58.8 per cent score as his counterpart Steve Lelengwe of Samburu County coming in third with a score of 57.2 per cent.

“The question we were asking the respondents is how they would rate the overall performance of their senators on a scale of 1-10, where one meant worst and 10 the best,” Infotrak CEO Angela Ambitho said.

In an earlier poll, Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya was ranked the best performing county boss for the 2019-2020 period.

Oparanya, who is also the Council of Governors chairman, is serving his second and last term and is eyeing a higher political post in 2022.
