The Ol Moran, Laikipia security crisis has gotten worse and reached a new height.

A fierce gun battle ensued between bandits and National Police Reservists at Merigwiti Primary School even as security officials toured the area.

The government officials toured the area to oversee the implementation of security protocols announced by the Ministry of Interior on Monday.

The bandits are reported to have set the school on fire as law enforcement officers pursued and engaged them in the exchange.

Residents of Ol Moran have been evicted by the bandits and their livestock stolen while some have decided on their own to leave their homes for fear of their lives.

They appeal to the government to find a solution to the problem and restore peace in the region around Laikipia Nature Conservancy.
