President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed four new IEBC commissioners after the Parliament’s approval of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, which cleared them.

Their appointment was announced in a Kenya Gazette notice dated September 1, 2021.

The four commissioners include Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyang’aya and Juliana Cherera.

They replace Roselyne Akombe, Paul Kurgat, Consolata Maina and Margaret Mwachanya who resigned from the commission.

Chief Justice Martha Koome swore in the four commissioners at the Supreme Court and they are ready to assume office. 

This comes after a case was filed seeking to stop the four commissioners was filed on Wednesday.
