A woman in Chemelet, Bomet County is nursing serious burn wounds on her genital area and legs after her husband poured hot tea on her.

Chemelet location Chief Evans Maritim confirmed the unfortunate incident and said police would carry an investigation to establish what happened.

The 29-year-old woman Sharon Chepkorir says her husband caused her that injury after catching her reading his messages.

According to Chepkorir, her husband Alfred Kigen 32 walked in on her, noting down a number from a text message sent from another lady she suspected was her husband’s mistress.

Kigen got agitated when he asked Chepkorir what she was doing with his phone and did not get a response.

It is at that point that he took tea that was on fire and poured it on her.

“He saw me noting down the contacts then inquired what I was doing with his phone I kept quiet. It is then that he took tea that from the fire and poured it on me,” said Chepkorir.

Chepkorir sustained burns on her genital are, thighs and legs making it difficult for her to walk or sit down normally.

She was taken to the hospital, treated and discharged to go home.

According to the Chekorir’s relatives, the couple’s marriage has been troubled and attempts to resolve the differences have all been futile.
