The High Court has certified the application of the six officers implicated in the death of the Kianjokoma brothers to have them exhumed as urgent.

Justice Antony Mrima gave the direction on Friday.

This follows an application by the officers through their lawyer to have the bodies of Benson Njiru and Emmanuel Mutura for the inquest first before charges are brought against them.

They argued that when the postmortem of the two young men was being conducted by the petitioner's chosen pathologists; they were not present.

They maintained that the boys succumbed to the injuries they sustained after an attempt they made to escape police custody failed.

The six officers have been taken to Mathare Hospital for a mental evaluation.

They also asked the court to release them on bail pending the conclusion of an inquest into the Kianjokoma brothers' death.

Mrima further directed that the matter be mentioned on September 1, 2021, for further directions.
