Police officers on Monday afternoon arrested two terror suspects in Mombasa.

The suspected terrorists were apprehended at the Likoni Ferry crossing in a Toyota Probox vehicle as they tried to cross over to Kisiwani from South Coast.

At least 10 police officers drawn from the Special Forces and Anti-Terror Police Unit swung into action in a movie-style operation that saw the apprehension of the two suspects attracting the attention of curious onlookers.

The officers recovered two AK-47 rifles and rounds of ammunition from the suspects following the arrest on Monday afternoon.

Also found in the suspects’ possession was a machete, mobile phones and chargers even as police are yet to establish what their mission was.
