A police officer has reportedly shot dead his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself.

Corporal Bernard Sivo was based at the Njoro Police station in Nakuru County.

Police reports say the lady identified as Mary Nyambura had gone to Njoro Sub-county to seek treatment allegedly after her boyfriend Sivo had assaulted her.

Nyambura had a fracture on her right leg that had been allegedly inflicted by Sivo.

A few moments later, Sivo stormed into the hospital and shot Nyambura severally as she was receiving treatment.

Unfortunately, Nyambura died on the spot as Sivo went back to the station.

Witnesses at the station said he displayed signs of hostility and fired his weapon aimlessly, putting the lives of everyone nearby in danger.

Sivo shot himself on the chin as police officers were mobilized to disarm and neutralize him.

The bullet exited on the upper forehead, killing him instantly.

However, the cause of Sivo's rage is yet to be established.

This is yet another case of murder-suicide case only a fortnight away from another one that involved a businessman Jonathan Mukundi and his wife Philomena Njeri.

The two were found dead in their bedroom with gunshot wounds on their bodies.
