Kayole Estate in Nairobi was the ground of running battles between police and irate members of the public on Thursday morning.

This follows yet another sad incident that saw a 38-year-old man die after police officers allegedly beat him up for flouting the curfew rules.

Sources say the officers cornered the victim identified as John Kiiru and beat him mercilessly at the Tushauriane stage in Kayole. He was waiting for a boda boda he had hailed to take him home.

Unfortunately for Kiiru, the police officers on patrol caught up with him before he boarded the boda boda and descended on him.

The boda boda rider he had hailed was however lucky to escape with his life after dodging the cops.

Angry Kayole residents protested the death of Kiiru. They barricaded the roads and lit bonfires during their protest.

This comes barely a fortnight after another incident in Embu where two brothers lost their lives at the hands of police.
