A Kenyan born preacher based in the United Kingdom has been arrested and arraigned in a London Court.

Bishop Wiseman Irungu was charged with fraud and unfair trading offences after he allegedly sold ‘plague protection kits’ as a cure for the Covid-19.

The clergyman appeared before the Lavender Hill Magistrate's Court on Monday and was charged with selling his bogus Covid-19 drug for an equivalent of Sh13,704.18 each.

The Bishop made his fake remedy for the virus by mixing cedarwood and hyssop and claimed that the mixture could be used to treat, prevent, protect against or cure the virus.

The self-proclaimed prophet, 46, based at the Bishop Climate Ministries, marketed his alleged miraculous concoction through the ministry’s website.

Prosecutor Ryan Thompson, who represented the Southward Council, intimated that there were allegations that were made suggesting that the oil had cured at least 10 people.

The claims were made in person, online, through testimonial videos and instructional videos, with Irungu alleging earlier that he had gotten instructions from God to make the special oil.
