Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested the prime suspect behind last week’s killings of four young men in Kitengela.

Sleuths tracked and pounced on 40-year-old Benson Melonyie ole Mungai at his hideout in Kitengela town on Monday evening after he went into hiding following the gruesome killings.

Ole Mungai’s arrest comes days after DCI took over the investigation into the four murders that have shaken the country amid demands for fast arrest and prosecution of those involved.

According to DCI, the key suspect was positively linked into the killings after a forensic investigation placed him at the scene of the crime at the time the crime was committed.

DCI says it has established that he coordinated the killing of the four men and that they were pursuing the remaining suspects, as Ole Mungai remains in custody to assist with the probe.

This comes two days after Lucy Wanjiru, single mother of two of the four boys murdered in Kitengela, jetted back from the UK where she had been since 2018 ahead of her only sons’ funeral.
