Senior Police Assistant Inspector General of Police Zachary King’ori Mwangi was caught in a fix following an accident he was involved in on Langata Road leaving his nursing wounds.

The incident that attracted huge crowds occured after the police boss was involved in an accident in the weekend, an incident captured in video recorded from within his vehicle.

Witnesses claim the top cop was driving on the wrong side of the road at the time and knocked down two pedestrians at the Carnivore junction but failed to stop.

Boda boda riders engaged King'ori and other occupants of his vehicle in a road chase and caught up with them as they neared the Langata barracks.

They then accosted him joined by some irate members of the public, who descended on him with blows and slaps in his car without realizing who he was.

According to a video that Swala Nyeti has viewed, he was in the vehicle with an unidentified female companion who could be heard pleading with the mob that she was pregnant.

“Tafadhali nawaomba kwa jina la Mungu nakuomba, tunawaomba, tunaenda police station…nakuomba kwa jina ya Mungu unisamehe. Usinigonge… niko na mimba, I’m pregnant…” the passenger screamed.

The irate mob could also be heard ordering King’ori to get down from the vehicle while he pleaded with them telling them that he was headed straight to the police station.

“Tunaenda police station,” King’ori kept repeating as his pleas fell on deaf ears.

A police officer who was nearby and noticed the commottion rushed to their rescue and took them to the Langata Police station where King'ori recorded a statement over the incident.

It later emerged that King’ori was allegedly rushing to the rescue of another unnamed person who was said to be in critical condition.

The two pedestrians involved in the accident are reported to have suffered multiple injuries and were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital by another good Samaritan.
