Turkish national Harun Aydin, who is being detained by security officials in Kenya, is expected to be arraigned in Nairobi on Monday.

Immigration officials, who said they wanted to question him on his immigration status, work permit and the nature of the business he was involved in in the region, arrested Aydin.

Anti-terror police officers later picked him and took him to their Nairobi offices along Ngong road where he was further grilled before being taken to Nairobi Area Police Station.

Aydin, who was part of Deputy President William Ruto's entourage for a failed trip to Uganda last week, was arrested on Saturday on landing at Wilson Airport in Nairobi from Uganda.

He is expected to be charged with alleged links to terrorism financing, even as DP Ruto and his cronies have vehemently denied the claims saying the Turkishman was an investor.

Ruto claimed last week that he aided Aydin to get a loan of Sh15 billion from Equity Bank, through a mere phone call and that he was setting up a Covid-19 vaccines plant in Uganda.

But as MPs allied to the Deputy President led by Kapseret's Oscar Sudi claimed he was an investor in fruits in the country, Ruto said he assisted the mysterious man invest in Uganda.
