Yet another inferno razed down property worth millions of shillings at Gikomba market in Nairobi in the early hours of Friday.

According to traders at Gorofani area of the market that was razed say they lost their wares after the fire broke out at the largest open-air market in the region for the umpteenth time.

They blamed the government for failing to implement measures to avert fire outbreaks in popular Gikomba market, which is popular for second-hand clothes and household items.

The traders also accused the county government fire fighters of responding to the fire late resulting in huge losses for the traders who rely on small scale daily sales.

Many traders at Gorofani woke up to the rude shock of losing all their wares to the fire that broke out before most of them reported to their work stations.  

The Friday inferno is part of what has become an annual ritual where mysterious fires raze Gikomba market majorly at night resulting in huge losses for mitumba traders.
