Renowned televangelist and House of Grace Bishop, David Muriithi has been sued for child support.

A woman is seeking Sh100,000 in monthly allowances from the Bishop for child maintenance.

The woman alleged the clergyman sired a son with her after they entered a steamy relationship back in 2018.

Speaking through her lawyer Dastan Omari, Muriithi was beside himself with joy when their 2-year-old son was born in 2019.

Apparently, the bishop was supportive during the pregnancy and provided for the unborn child willfully, according to the lady.

“The plaintiff avers that during her pregnancy period, the defendant was supportive and he wilfully provided for her and the unborn child,” said Omari.

In a twist of events, Muriithi now says he will withdraw his support to the pregnancy citing lack of salary as his reason for withdrawal.

The lady said Muriithi leads the flock of a reputable church and lives a high-end life therefore, his refusal to support his child is discriminatory.

The lady now claims the bishop has turned his back on their child, leaving her with all the responsibility of single-handedly taking care of the child.

"Muriithi has neglected his parental responsibilities least to say and has caused the minor herein to be a child in need of care and protection," read the court document.

Omari said Muriithi is responsible for the child until he attains the age of 18.

The monthly upkeep lists Sh35,000 for rent, Sh20,000 for food and shopping, Sh11,000 for clothing and 10,000 for the house help.

The court has directed that Muriithi gets served with an application and the involved parties appear in court on August 25, 2021, for a hearing.
