The husband of Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has died. 

Khalid Ahmed died on Thursday morning at around 5 am, in Karen Hospital, Nairobi, after a brief illness his family has confirmed.

Top ranking government officials and leaders rushed to Amina's home after hearing the news of her husband's demise.

This comes as a huge blow to CS Amina as losing her brother Esmael Mohammed Jibril is still lingering.

Jibril was a prominent city businessman who died in March 2021 while receiving treatment in India.

Following the death of Khalid, President Uhuru Kenyatta has led other leaders in sending out their condolences and mourning the CS's husband.

"My deepest condolences to my colleague and friend CS Amina, the children as they come to terms with the sudden passing away of Mr Ahmed," Uhuru said.
