Florence Muoti Mwangangi, Speaker of Machakos County Assembly, went into self-quarantine after she tested positive for Covid-19. 

Speaker Mwangangi, mother to Health Chief Administrative Secretary, Dr Mercy Mwangangi, is reported to have tested positive for Coronavirus nine days ago.

The Machakos County Assembly Speaker said she resolved to have all the assembly members tested after she one of her colleagues started exhibiting symptoms of the virus.

Mrs Mwangangi was one of two members of the assembly who tested positive and she said she was observing health ministry guidelines on Coronavirus.

“Coronavirus and is real and people should be careful,” she said as she asked those with the virus to speak out and let others know more about the virus.

“Each day is different and one may face different symptoms, those who are sick should take heart and be hopeful though the journey is tough,” she said.
