Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu is recuperating at the Nairobi Hospital after she contracted Covid-19 recently.

Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua announced the news about Ngilu’s condition during an event for artists hosted by Royal Media Services owner SK Macharia in Gatanga on Tuesday.

“Our sister Charity Ngilu told me to inform you that he is suffering from Covid-19 and admitted at the Nairobi Hospital. Let us take care, Covid-19 is everywhere. She told me to warn you,” announced Mutua at the podium.

According to Dr Mutua, Ngilu was admitted to Nairobi Hospital on Sunday after a diagnosis confirmed that she had indeed contracted the Coronavirus.

She has been in isolation since Sunday receiving treatment with reports on Wednesday saying she was recovering well.

"Doctors say she is not in any foreseeable danger, she is even able to make phone calls on her own and speak freely with visitors," said a source close to the family.

Ngilu is among the people who contracted the Covid-19 virus albeit received the vaccine.

She is reported to be responding well to treatment and is well on her way to recovery.

"Thanks to everyone who sent in their messages of quick recovery and good will. Let’s continue praying for our Governor" added the source. .
