Fake doctor James Mugo Ndichu alias Mugo wa Wairimu was on Wednesday sentenced to serve 11 years in jail for operating an unlicensed clinic.
Nairobi Resident Magistrate Martha Nanzushi found him guilty of all the six counts the prosecution had brought against him.
“The accused is convicted on his own plea of guilt and will suffer the consequences of his actions as provided in the law,” she ruled.
However, Mugo was given an option of paying a Sh1,420,000 for operating a clinic in Nairobi which offered healthcare to women.
He came to the limelight in 2014 when a video clip emerged of a man as he sexually abused a woman who appeared sedated at his Millan Health International.
Mugo was found to be operating an illegal clinic in Kayole, which lacked the required licence from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board and was nabbed on November 3, 2018.
He was also found guilty of illegally operating a pharmacy without registration by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board and operating Millan Health International in Kayole without a licence.
The magistrate said the sentences will run concurrently, which means he will only serve three years if he fails to raise the fine.
