Deputy President William Ruto has harshly responded to ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga’s attacks allegedly linking him to corruption.

Ruto was speaking during a service at the PCEA church in Umoja on Sunday, when he chose to respond to Raila who had questioned the source of the huge cash donations given to churches and different women and youth groups.

Raila, who spoke in Mombasa on Saturday, said the millions of shillings being  donated were taxpayers’ money acquired through theft without mentioning whom he was referring to.

The remarks by Raila seemed to have rubbed the DP the wrong way and he instead accused him of overseeing the theft of cash meant for the youth while serving as  Prime Minister in the Grand Coalition Government.

Ruto said that it was only in Kenya where the opposition run the government and also claimed that the opposition runs the corruption cartels in government.

He said his political detractors only complained when he supports churches and traders but are mum when he backs their political endeavours.

The DP also assured the congregants that the 2022 general election will not be postponed as has been alleged by some quarters.

He said that the elections will be held on the second Tuesday of August 2022 as stipulated in the constitution.

A section of leaders led by COTU boss Francis Atwoli have recently claimed that if the BBI does not pass then 2022 poll would have to be postponed.
