The speaker for the National Assembly Justin Muturi has declared his interest in the Presidency in the 2022 general election.

Muturi was speaking to a section of religious leaders from Embu County, Meru County and Tharaka Nithi County on July 3, 2021

The recently crowned Mt. Kenya region spokesperson told the leaders that his succession of President Uhuru Kenyatta will reveal his vision for a united, disciplined, ordinary and developed Kenya.

“And I’ve given you my vision, of a country that is ruled through discipline and order, and I want to be the person who does that.” Muturi said.

He asked those leaders for their prayers and support in his bid for presidency and told them he believed he will clinch the presidency with their help.

“With your support and your prayers, we will be able to clinch that top seat,” he added.

The speaker also said that the only way he could ensure his vision for this country materializes is when he becomes nothing less than number on in the next general election.

“And we’re not going to do it when we’re number two or number three, we can only do it when we’re number one.”

Muturi was crowned the Mt. Kenya region spokesperson in May this year amid protest from among the people from the communities within the Mount Kenya region.
