President Uhuru Kenyatta has arrived at the Lusaka Show Grounds to attend the funeral of the founding father of the Republic of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda.

Uhuru jetted into Zambia from France, where he had gone on an official trip.

Kaunda died on June 17, 2021, at the Maina Soko Military Hospital in Lusaka where he was receiving treatment aged 97.

The African hero will be laid to rest on July 7, 2021.

The staunch Pan-Africanist was the last of the 20th-century liberation heroes. Kaunda leaves a legacy as a peace-loving African who fought for the freedom of his country as well as other African countries.

Africa will also not forget his contribution to the fashion industry, his signature suit with a short-sleeved jacket dubbed the Kaunda suit.
