The government of Eswatini has issued a statement through Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku.

The statement issued is to meant to assure the country and the international community of King Mswati’s active reign.

The statement also denies reports that King Mswati fled to Johannesburg and claims he still is in the country working. 

“Following false media reports circulating, I would like to take this opportunity to assure emaSwati and the international community that His Majesty King Mswati III is in the country and continues to lead in working with the government to advance the Kingdom’s goals.” Read the statement.

The statement also said that the government will update the Nation on intervention in the prevailing situation.

The Eswatini government urged its citizens to remain calm and peaceful. 

Reports had circulated across media that pro-democracy protests had sent King Mswati III packing and hiding in Johannesburg.

There is no official statement from Johannesburg yet.
