More than 500 women residents of Kiambu County held demonstrations today to condemn the defection of Kiambu Women Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba.

Gathoni defected from Kieleweke and joined Deputy President William Ruto’s Hustler camp.

The irate women said that they were not amused by Wamuchomba’s move because it showed disrespect to President Uhuru Kenyatta, whom they termed as their own.

They demanded her removal from office and said that her being in office has yet to bear any meaningful fruits for the women of Kiambu.

The women said that they were the ones who elected Wamuchomba by almost a million votes, but she never consulted them when she was defecting from the Jubilee party.

According to the women, Wamuchomba’s action has brought embarrassment to them and they affirmed their support for Uhuru and the Jubilee Party.
