Kenya has received a boost in the fight against Covid-19 which came in form of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine.

The vaccines were donated by the Government of Denmark and were received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Monday night by PS Health Susan Mochache.

According to The Ministry of Health, the donations will boost the administration of the second dose the Vaccination.

There has been a shortage of the AstraZeneca vaccine since India stopped the export of the vaccine due to the spike in the number of infections there.

The crisis saw Kenya receive donations and pledges from countries such as the USA and the Democratic Republic of Congo who donate 150,000 doses of the vaccine because DRC lacked the capacity to administer the vaccine and their expiry date was drawing closer.

Kenyan Government announced that it was considering seeking other alternatives to the vaccines to provide solution to its population.

The donations from the Danish Government come as a relief to healthcare and frontline workers whose concerns were growing about the shortage of the vaccine for their second doses.
