Police have rescued a 23-year-old woman kidnapped in Eastleigh from a dungeon in the Matopeni area in Kayole, Embakasi East, Nairobi.

Businesswoman Hafsa Mohammed Lukman was abducted by unknown individuals from Kamukunji where she runs a clothing shop on June 15, 2021.

The kidnappers later released an armature video clip with their Sh. 5 million ransom demand in exchange for Hafsa’s freedom.

During her time in the hands of the criminals that kidnapped her, Hafsa was forced to fit into a water storage drum.

A joint operation involving Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau officers and the Special Service Unit rescued Hafsa from the dungeon after thorough investigations.

She was found rather shaken from her ordeal and signs of maltreatment were visible on her face and hands. She was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention..

A 24-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the kidnapping incident and is currently helping the police with the investigations.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) issued a stern warning against anyone who intends to perpetrate such crimes and said that no efforts shall be spared to bring any culprits to book.
