Detectives arrested three suspects in connection to the recent spate of highway robbery on the Southern Bypass in Nairobi.

The detectives said that investigations through cyber & forensic analysis techniques let them to one Boniface Winjira Unganyi.

Unganyi is suspected to be a beneficiary of the crimes perpetrated on the Southern bypass. He owns a mobile shop in Lindi, Kibera called Basement Crew Mobile Shop.

Turns out that the suspect’s shop is used to fence the stolen mobile phones to locals at absurdly affordable prices.

Sleuths from Langata Police station raided Unganyi’s shop and recovered a total of 102 mobile phones suspected to have been stolen from the highway robberies.

The suspect was arrested and another 35-year-old individual identified as Alex Mboya who was found in possession of a stolen mobile phone.

A 16-year-old minor studying at a Langata secondary school was also arrested in the raid.

Detectives have arrested several other suspects in connection to the Southern bypass robberies and so far someone has already arraigned 5 of them in court.
