The cabinet meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta has endorsed security measures spearheaded by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to tame rising political temperatures.

According to a statement from the Executive Office of the President, the cabinet sitting in Manyani approved the measures adopted by the National Security Advisory Committee (NSAC) last week.

Uhuru’s cabinet said the interventions taken by the security organs are meant to ensure that “Kenya remains a safe and secure nation; the foundation stone of our country’s quest to build a more prosperous, fair and just nation for all Kenyans.”

The cabinet Thursday okayed the decision by NSAC chaired by Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua last week following chaos that rocked Murang’s ahead of DP William Ruto’s fundraiser.

During the meeting, The head of state received the Report on the State of National Security, Nationhood and Territorial Integrity.

This comes as DP Ruto and his political allies have stepped up bashing of Matiang’i and other security organ heads accusing them of being highhanded in dealing with public meetings.

The deputy president attended the cabinet meeting held at the Kenya Wildlife Service, Field Training Center in Manyani amid tension over his heightened campaigns to replace Uhuru in 2022.
