Wahome has faced impeachment for a record 3 times but survived after a Nakuru High Court reinstated him on April 29, 2020, citing the technicality that the sitting of the assembly that impeached Wahome did not observe the two-thirds rule.

31 MCAs in a special sitting voted to impeach Wahome over gross misconduct, abuse of office, nepotism and favouritism in assembly functions.

The speaker also stands accused of failing to explain the expenditure of more than Sh500 million that was designated for the construction of the county assembly offices.

The embattled speaker is locked in a tug of war with the Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia whom he accuses of being behind his woes.

A section of MCAs allied to the speaker led by the MCA for Gatimu Ward, Kireru Wambui has collected 13 out of 38 signatures in a bid to move a motion to impeach the Kimemia.
