Police officers rescued a Kabete Anglican Church pastor from the jaws of death after thwarting his kidnapping by armed thugs.

4 thugs waylaid pastor John Dinguri Chege on his way home on Thursday and commandeered his vehicle towards Kiamumbi in Kiambu.

The police swung into action once they were informed about the kidnapping incident and hatched a rescue plan.

A team of police pursued the gang into an ambush staged by another team of police along Kamiti Road.

A shootout that left 2 of the thugs dead ensued at their point of interception after the thugs defied the police order to surrender.

Police are still in a manhunt for the other 2 suspects who are still at large after narrowly escaping albeit with gunshot wounds.

The police recovered a pistol, 2 rounds of ammunition and a knife from the suspects.

The police are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the 2 suspects who escaped to share with them anonymously through their toll-free “Fichua kwa DCI” number.
