A bridge connecting Migori and Homabay Counties across River Kuja has collapsed.

The unfortunate accident happened on Wednesday morning at around 5:00 am when a truck laden with sugarcane was passing over the Oria-Riat bridge.

The track was headed to Sukari Industry in Riat Trading Center in Ndhiwa sub-county.

Police commander Ndhiwa sub-county Robert Aboki confirmed the driver was rescued after the accident.

Ndhiwa constituency member of parliament, Hon. Martin Owino strongly recommended that road users take extra caution and asked for patience as he engages the relevant authorities on the remedy for the situation.

Motorists plying that route are advised to use alternative routes to their various destinations.

Another similar incident occurred on Tuesday in Bondo when the Dhogoye bridge was also destroyed after a heavy downpour cutting off the Bondo-Usenge-Osieko road.
