Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has been officially kicked out of the Senate after

Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka declared his seat vacant on Tuesday.

The action against Mwaura follows a decision by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party to expel him from the party, a decision he challenged.

He was accused by the party of campaigning for a candidate from a different political outfit, in violation of the party’s constitution and the Political Parties Act.

The decision was communicated in a gazette notice by the Speaker on Tuesday, as he declared the nominates senator seat vacant after his expulsion by the ruling party.

This comes even as Mwaura surprisingly cast a YES vote for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Bill during his its second reading in the Senate on Tuesday.

Uhuru’s Jubilee Party expelled nominated senators Isaac Mwaura, Mary Seneta, Falhada Dekow Iman, Naomi Jillo Waqo, Victor Prengei and Millicent Omanga in February.

However, the move was declared illegal by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal saying party mechanism had not been exhausted.
