The head of state President Uhuru Kenyatta has received the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations results before their public release.

The Cabinet Secretary Education Prof. George Magoha presented the 2020 KCSE result to the president during a briefing at the State House.

The briefing was attended by Joseph Kinyua (Head of Public Service), PS Julius Jwan (Early Learning and Basic Education), Nancy Macharia(CEO Teachers Service Commission) and Mercy Kagoro (Kenya National Examinations Council)

The president congratulated the 2020 KCSE candidates for exemplary performance, notwithstanding the hurdles caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He thanked the stakeholders in the education sector for the proper administration of the exam.

The process of marking the 2020 KCSE examinations began immediately after the exams ended and were finished on April. 16th, 2021.

However, the marking process was marred by protest from the examiners who staged protests over their unpaid dues.

In the same briefing, Prof. Fatuma Chege was sworn in as the Principal Secretary of the new State Department for Implementation of Curriculum Reforms within the Ministry of Education.

President Uhuru congratulated her and praised her record in the development of the new curriculum.

"You have been at the forefront in the development of this curriculum. You know what needs to be done," said Uhuru
