5 terror suspects holding Pakistani passports were arrested on Sunday, May 9, 2021, in Kisumu county.

Two of the five suspects were arrested somewhere in the Kisumu West sub-county, while the other three were arrested later at Ahero along the Kisumu-Nairobi highway.

The three terror suspects were onboard public transport destined for Kericho but disembarked at Ahero once they gathered that the police had mounted a roadblock at Ahero and made for the opposite direction.

Nyando sub-county police boss Leonard Matete intimated that the suspects have been on the Anti-Terror Police Unit’s watch list and have probably been operating in the country for a reasonable amount of time.

Unconfirmed reports say that the suspects were fugitives and had sneaked into the country from the neighbouring country; Uganda.

Traffic on the Nairobi-Kisumu highway was brought to a standstill, and travelers had to wait for hours as the police carried out their operation to apprehend the suspects.
