The man who is said to have confessed to police that he murdered his 25-year-old former girlfriend has asked the court to sentence him quickly for his crime.

Appearing virtually before Thika law courts on Monday, Evans Karani, 38, asked magistrate Oscar Wanyaga to speed up his jailing over the murder of his estranged girlfriend Catherine Nyokabi.

The magistrate however directed that he be remanded virtually for the next 14 days as police work to conclude their investigation into the gruesome murder of Nyokabi.

Karani, who is married, had reportedly confessed to detectives investigating the incident that he plotted and killed Nyokabi last week Wednesday for allegedly seeing another man.

The matter has been set for mention on May 3.
