Lawmakers in the Canadian House of Commons were left embarrassed after one of their male colleagues appeared stark naked during a Zoom meeting.

Liberal MP William Amos, who later apologised to his counterparts, appeared in the Zoom call while covering his manhood with a smartphone between the Canada and Quebec flags.

The 46-year-old asked for pardon from his colleagues after his laptop camera turned on while the virtual session was going on.

"I made a really unfortunate mistake today & obviously I'm embarrassed by it," tweeted Amos on Wednesday.

He explained, “My camera was accidentally left on as I changed into work clothes after going for a jog. I sincerely apologise to all my colleagues in the House. It was an honest mistake + it won't happen again."

The MP for Pontiac appeared nude during a virtual questioning session leaving those in attendance stunned.

Had he addressed the House of Commons while naked, according to the Rules of Order and Decorum, he would have been punished, even as the mishap was only viewed internally.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Amos' Liberal party leader, has not yet reacted.

Claude DeBellefeuille, opposition party whip, however raised the matter on a point of order, while appealing to all the lawmakers to remain covered at all times.
