Former US President Barack Obamas and his extended family in Kenya are in mourning again after losing another matriarch barely a fortnight after burying world famous grandma Sarah Obama.

This follows the passing of Obama's step-mother Kezia Obama at the age of 81.

Kezia passed on on Tuesday April 14 at a hospital in the United Kingdom while she was receiving treatment for an unknown ailment.

She was Barack Obama Senior's first wife and the mother of Malik Obama, Auma Obama, Sadiq Obama and Mustafa Abo.

Auma Obama confirmed her mother's death in a tweet expressing how it had broken her heart: 

Said Obama, Malik's other brother said Kezia had been ailing over some time. 

Her death comes barely a month after the death of Mama Sarah Obama, Barack's grandmother.
