Two women were on Monday arrested for allegedly drugging and robbing a man of an undisclosed amount of cash in Mwea, Kirinyaga County.

According to Mwea East police boss Daniel Kitavi, the two women laced the 32-year-old man with drugs at a local bar in Ngurubani town on Saturday evening before robbing him.

“They even took his ATM and visited two banks before they were arrested,” said Kitavi.

The police commander says the two female suspects used a boda boda rider to deliver the man to a local lodging where they robbed him before a good Samaritan called the police.

“We discovered several items that will help us to prosecute the two suspects, who are being held here at Wang’uru police station,” he said.

Police later took the victim to a local private hospital for medical attention, Kitavi said.

“He’s feeling well and he has recorded a statement with us,” he added.

The two women are reported to have been on the prowl in the area and had been targeting men including in Kerugoya, Ngurubani, Sagana and Kagio towns.

They were arraigned in Wang’uru on Monday for the offence.
