Teachers Service Commission has ordered all teachers across the country to report back to schools on Monday next week ahead of the planned resumption of learning.

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Nancy Macharia, who issued the directive in Nairobi on Monday, ordered teachers to report at their workstations on September 28, 2020 or earlier if possible.

Similarly, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha clarified that the reopening of schools will only be announced after education stakeholders agree on the most appropriate date.

Prof Magoha also indicated that 15 schools in each sub-county will benefit from desks and chairs to be made by jua kali artisans as directed by the government at a cost of Sh1.9 billion.

The CS also ordered final year science students to be allowed back to their universities to conduct their practical exams to prepare for their graduation slated for the end of this year but the students must observe Covid-19 regulations.

Schools were ordered to be closed in mid-March after the first Covid-19 case was reported in Kenya, only three months after the school calendar had commenced.
